Their wedding décor and special touches reflected their personalities and their mutual love of Walt Disney and super heroes.  The level of thought put into their wedding details and the final wedding design, made their wedding award-worthy and deserving of the title “Wedding of the Year.” As big Walt Disney fans, Claire and Ryan wanted to subtly incorporate elements of their favorite Disney movies into the ceremony and reception décor; while fitting with their wedding colors of navy blue and silver.  The Disney movies that made an appearance throughout the wedding are The Lion King, Cinderella, Tangled, and Up.  The best part about all of these fun wedding details, was the wedding program which contained an “Eye Spy” game for guests to find all the unique movie references. The movie Tangled is very special to Claire and Ryan.  On their third date together they watched Tangled, and broke out into song at the same time; during the song “I See the Light.” At that moment they realized that they were both Disney nerds and probably the same kind of crazy.  Since this movie was so dear to them, they wanted it to have a heavy presence in the wedding.  For the outdoor ceremony, they lined the path towards the marriage pavilion with antique lantern which are an important sign in Tangled.   Also, at the reception, the table cloths where navy blue with a gold swirl star pattern, much like the sky painted with lanterns by the main heroin in Tangled.  Finally, the table center pieces were constructed of a flame shaped light surrounded by flowers; the last lantern reference. The movie Up, The Lion King, and Cinderella can be seen in the reception décor and on the bride herself.  The wedding cake was wrapped in a navy blue ribbon and had cake toppers that were fashioned after the chairs of the male and female characters in the movie Up.  To represent The Lion King, small plastic animals were used as escort card holders, spray painted silver, and held a navy blue card with the guest’s name and table number.  Lastly, Cinderella is represented with the brides wedding shoes.  Her shoes were blue with a crystal accent to represent Cinderella’s glass slipper. Aside from Disney references, Claire and Ryan also had creative and unique tokens for the bridal party and with their ceremony details.  Instead of bouquets, the bridesmaids carried clutches with a flower pinned to them.  The clutches had a gray and white pattern that complimented the wedding colors, and a pink flower that attached and matched the boutonnieres of the groomsmen.  The groom added his personal touches to the wedding parties’ styling by giving each member of the groom’s party, and the fathers of the couple, a different super hero pin.   The superhero pins were worn on the outside of their jackets.  Ryan himself wore a superman pin and tie clip.    At the ceremony, the bride had the members of the Southern Illinois University Suzuki Tour Group play as she walked down the aisle.  This is the same group she was a part of as a child.  Finally, the guest book at the wedding was very cute and creative.  They printed a calendar that showcased their engagement images, and had all guests sign their names next to their birthdays. On the wedding day, traveling to multiple locations within limited daylight hours presented the biggest conflict.  Since Claire and Ryan were planning a sunset wedding, most of the couples’ and bridal parties’ portraits had to be created prior to the ceremony.  Therefore, they decided to do a first look at Tower Grove Park.  Unfortunately, on the wedding day the park was crowded with people out enjoying the nice weather.  To work around the crowds, the couple was positioned towards the interior of the park to avoid pedestrians in the camera’s frame, and used a 70-20 lens at 200mm to obscure the background. From the park, the bridal party traveled to Busch stadium before heading to the ceremony and reception sight in Edwardsville, Illinois.  Having a strict timeline in action, helped all parties move efficiently and allowed the couple to get the images they had desired within the 30 minute window we had at the stadium. The images that resulted reflect the couple’s passion for Cardinal’s baseball and are unique images to a St. Louis wedding. Claire and Ryan’s wedding photography and extraordinary wedding details make their wedding worthy of the title “Wedding of the Year.” Their wedding had a strong theme that was creatively executed, personalized to the couple, and had portraiture that is unique to a St. Louis wedding.  Having all of these elements present together strengthens the wedding as a whole and makes it award-worthy.     Wedding Ceremony & Reception: Crystal Gardens – Videographer: Behind the Veil Media – Florist: Wendle Jeralds –  Cake Artist: Alexis Gaggini – Makeup Artist: Sierra Maguire of Lox Salon – Band/DJ: Ron Allsup – Wedding Dress: Simply Elegant Boutique – Bridesmaid Dresses: Clarice’s – Men’s Tuxes: Men’s Warehouse
